Versatile elastic 1-component PU adhesive and sealant for marine applications

Broad adhesive range

Excellent adhesion on a wide range of materials

Elastic

  • Different material expansions are compensated for by high elasticity
  • Dampens vibrations and noise

Slow skin formation time

  • For bonding and/or sealing of large components
  • Joint parts can be repositioned

Can be sanded and painted over

  • Mechanical processing is possible once the skin forms
  • The sealant can be painted over, subject to restrictions

Effective resistance to chemicals, ageing and weathering

  • Lasting resistance to water, salt water, diluted acids and alkalines
  • Resistant short-term to fuels, mineral oils, vegetable and animal fats and oils

Low-odour

Silicone-free

Notice
  • Not suitable for deck caulking (sealing wooden planks on ship decks).
  • Do not bring into contact with alkyd resin paint systems, unhardened SMP, hybrid-PU or silicone sealants.
  • Alcohol should not be used to prepare for bonding, as it interferes with the curing process and causes the adhesive sealant to fail.
  • Due to the reduced adhesive strength at elevated temperatures, use of this product above 90°C is not recommended.
  • When painting over the sealant, it must be taken into account that the thickness and hardness of the paint film may impair the adhesive's elasticity and thereby cause cracks. Solvent-based marine paints may not cure on hardened Multi PU Marine adhesive sealant. Preliminary tests are therefore strongly recommended.
  • Prolonged contact with chemicals (teak cleaner, oxalic acid, petrol, strong solvents and other harsh chemicals) can lead to permanent softening of the adhesive sealant.
Proof of Performance

EC type examination certificate: Approved for bonding in shipbuilding and boat building.

Application area

1-component polyurethane adhesive and sealant specially developed for use in boat building and shipbuilding.

For variable, waterproof, weather-resistant sealing tasks and simple bonding for indoor and outdoor use, including below the water line after curing. Typical applications include sealing work in bathrooms, simple bonding of furniture or anti-skid plates, and use in the processing of decorative panels.

Multi PU Marine adhesive sealant impresses with its broad adhesive strength properties on the relevant surface materials such as wood, aluminium, polyester, PVC, natural stone, fibreglass and metals. Not suitable for teak, PE, PP, PTFE, silicone rubber, polystyrene and softened plastics.

Instructions

The surfaces must be clean, dry and free from dust and grease. The surfaces must be clean, dry and free from dust and grease. The best adhesion results are achieved by pre-treating the surfaces with Activating Cleaner and AdhesionPlus Metal surface cleaners or Bond and Seal Adhesion Plus for plastic/wood/stone. Smoothing must be done during the adhesive's skin-formation time. Material that has not cured can be removed using adhesive remover. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically. Multi PU Marine adhesive sealant can be painted over once the skin has formed, although preliminary tests should first be performed to verify paint compatibility.
